Peter C. Davies, CCM - The Forum

In extraordinary times status quo has become a thing of the past as we turn ourselves upside down to face the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world - even clubs established more than 100 years ago are finding the need to evolve at a rapid pace that, until recently, would have seemed unimaginable. Now is the time to look beyond our personal stake and include the very future of private clubs and the club management profession in our thinking. CMAA is the greatest champion for our profession and for our industry, and there has never been a time or a greater need to provide support to our association than now.

Where would we be without CMAA? For me it was thanks to the opportunities offered by CMAA that my initial stumble into the world of private clubs was transformed into a wonderful new life. It has been great to be able to give back by serving my Chapters and participating on national committees. It is such an honor to currently serve as a national director and to work with a dynamic group of peers and the extraordinary staff at our national headquarters. This experience has intensified my resolve to serve my association and its membership and continue to contribute in every way I possibly can.

This year, Shelly and I will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and count our many blessings – especially our three children. That said, life balance is the toughest thing in a profession that places so many demands on our lives. In all honesty, I haven’t come close to finding the perfect balance in my life, I haven’t found a magical formula to fix all the bumps in the road but I’m still trying, still listening and thanks to CMAA: still learning!

I respectfully ask you to support my continued service as a national director. Our association is strong because of its remarkable membership. I promise to always keep listening and keep learning from you because, after all, we are all the leaders we have been waiting for!
